I have a fairly old CU (around 1990) installed in the house. It’s a Square D 36-way, Load Centre Series C board. However it only appears to have 22 MCB’s installed along with what I believe to be an AFCI.
Question is, should this be replaced with a new board with one or more RCDs? Can RCDs be added to this board? Is the AFCI necessary to prevent fire? (haven't seen one in newer boards)

Any input would be greatly appreciated. :)

Re: CU Replacement needed?

they are the QOE type breakers It will be cheaper to replace the board , RCBO's for this type are now obsolete and can cost ÂŁ150.00 each if you can get them ,MCB's can be ÂŁ9.00 plus each the AFC1 im presuming you mean the RCBO one with the yellow button

What type of environment has this board been in for the last 30 years you need to get the wiring checked out first then think about changing the board
