Has anyone come across the Square D Domae consumer units, by Schneider, with an RCCB Main Switch? I have a customer who wants an outdoor socket installed? A simple job to spur off the back of a the nearest kitchen socket; run 2.5 mm2 t+e through plastic glands, 20 mm conduit and fixed bends ... or corrugated ... to the back of the IP65 rated box and Bob's your uncle. My concern is the lack of discrimination at the CU. What views do others have on this one? Do I install and note on the Minor Works the lack of discrimination?

Do you mean non-compliance with "division of circuits' in that an earth fault takes out whole installation? Hardly end of the world scenario in this instance imo. Just mention it on MWC and recommend some improvements in relation to division of circuits.

What lack of discrimination?

Thanks telectrix,

I mixed up my terminology ... I understand that discrimination has to do with avoiding placing 2 RCDs in a circuit. My concern was as Zebra Stripe, correctly interpreted, that a fault to earth on something plugged into the outside socket would bring down the whole of the electrical system.

Yours Aye

well, unless you reconfigure the CU, you're stuck with that problem. explain to customer what the problem is, then discusss alternatives.
