current kitchen lighting regs. in rented accommodation

I have just been told by a rental agency that the new light fitting in the kitchen is illegal. It is one of those bars with 4 spots on it. is this correct. What are the current regs on this. I would like to be able to show the agency something that proves he is talking out of his ......... as i have yet to hear of this. I am the maintenance manager for a company with 120 studio flats which have this type of lighting in half of them.

I think you need to contact the rental agent in question and ask him to show you exactly which law is actually being broken.

tell him your electrician has asked which regulation in bs7671 it dose not comply with, that should get him stuttering.

Is this property to be rented to a Local Authority?
I've recently been asked to do some remedial work for a Landlord who intends renting their property to a Local Authority.
Apparently there is quite an extensive check list.
