CV Help - Totally unsure!!

Hi guys!

I have recently completed the Level 3 Electrical Installations course at college and am now looking for an apprenticeship/work. The issue I have is I don't have a proper CV and am unsure on what needs to be included.

Any advice would be brilliant.
Thanks,
Jake

google free CV writing. failing which. just jot down what you have done from aged 11 (secondary school) to present date in reverse order. think once you done that, some members could help (sensitive info would, of course be via pm).

I would also include some information about yourself... personally when reviewing CVs, if people haven't told me anything about them aside from their education and career history, I file the CV under B.1.N.

Some people disagree, but there's a good chance you'll be spending more waking hours with your work mates than your family and friends, so knowing whether you're going to get along is important, and personal interests can play an important part in that.

I don't like opera for example, so if the only music you like is classical opera, we're heading for trouble right from the off as I don't think you'd like 8 hours of electronica and 80's-90's pop :)

One of the things I find is to keep it brief. Anything over three pages...yawn. If you can get a resume at one page to introduce yourself to a number of people that is good. If someone is interested in you then you will usually fill in their form including your work/history. Include hobbies, so long as its not watching paint dry or something silly. And try to put into as few sentences as possible what you want to achieve in the future. Like; I plan to train and qualify and want to specialise in commercial testing and inspection- whatever and again keep it brief. Put latest first and work back. Show any involvement in community or charity work, if you aint got any go get some while you are waiting to work, contact local charities.

How old are you, don't put stuff down from 11 but if you have no experience you may need to "pack " the CV out e.g. you like fettling with stuff at home etc etc

Helping bunnies or old people is a no no.

8 hours of electronica and 80's-90's pop :)

pure torture.

you need some Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Deep Purple, LED Zeppelin.

now that's what i call music.
And the MOODIES don't you dare mock Tel

I'm not a huge fan of any of them, but I can appreciate them. I like Money and Another Brick in the Wall, was introduced to them many moons ago by my Uncle on a mix tape he made along with JMJ's Oxygene :) If I wasn't into synths before that tape I was after it :)

What about folk? My working playlist includes a good selection including the Peat Bog Fairies, Cara Dillon, Seth Lakeman... any of those tickle your fancy Tel?

Don't know about Tel, never heard of any of them "Peat bog Fairies" Crikey SC what next?

The Peat Bog Fairies are a Scottish electro folk (my genre description) group who I believe come from the Isle of Skye. Nice mix of traditional instruments, guitars, synths.

Beats a lot of the tripe that gets radio airplay these days... it's so bad, I have my alarm clock radio tuned to Radio 1 because most of the carp they play on there is so irritating I just have to get up and turn it off.

I have to agree SC MOST of the tripe spewed out by the radio stations is mindless monotones turned out by mindless "Artistes",
I was in the Drs this morning with Radio one on in the background, now I'm a music lover, but this Mumbo Jumbo spewing out for all to listen too was to much, got the receptionist to turn to Radio 2, got a round of applause for that, very proud of myself I was. Rock on. But what's this got to do with help writing a CV is as mind boggling as Radio one.:mad::p:p:rolleyes::rolleyes: Who are these people who churn out all this Rap Carp? bloody pointless noise, and to top it all they get paid for ito_Oo_O:rolleyes::rolleyes::(:(.
