Was given today's daily mail by a neighbour - he didn't understand the article - see attached

Headline: How Money Saving Solar Panels actually increased my heating bill by £220

Yet the actual article was NOTHING about solar panels - the problem related to a bunch of badly designed, and clearly incorrectly installed A2W heat pumps aka 'Boilers' ....

Headline doesn't match up with any of the problems in the story...

I think you're making the incorrect assumption that the truth or journalistic integrity should trump a crowd pleasing headline.

Take no notice - it's a bloody awful paper written by jacked-up school kids who can't spell and think grammar is an elderly female relative.

They don't even have an indecent page 3 either.

so, it's a bad heat pump installation, but the blame is placed on the solar panels and the words 'heat pump' aren't used in the entire article?

or did they also have meters with anti-temper setting that clocks up the energy in both directions?

They know exactly what they are doing when they write articles that way.

What does that tell you about how they think of their readers?

Why pick on one paper they all print factual nonsense that ain't worth the cover price even when it's free
Because not even the red tops can match the daily fail for printing hysterical right wing nonsense and their fanatical devotion to a loathsome political party

Where is the News of the World these days didn't they do something illegal along with a few of the other red tops then there's the dockers comic and the reporting of Hillsborough they are all as bad as each other and some of the red tops you like so much are frightened that if they don't swing both ways politically they will miss out on something.

In short they are all not worth the waste of paper and ink used to print them or the webspace taken for the online versions no matter what their political persuasion is and you won't convince me otherwise

They do seem to have a very perverse agenda. As I understand, most readers buy it for the crossword.

Just how idiotic these excuses for hacks are can be seen in their article on the 'blight' of solar farms. They took an aerial shot of a farm and printed it on their toilet paper along with a dispariging article. In their online version it was a bigger photo showing it was right next door to Fawley oil refinery! If you visit the area you will be hard pushed to find it as it is so well obscured by hedges etc.

So doff your caps boys. This paper isn't even last century, but the one before.

NOTW was taken down because Rupert Murdoch realised he, via his hacks, had gone too far but yes I agree the red tops are all as bad as each other but where did I say I liked them?

The fact of the matter is that the daily fail is the press wing of Iain Duncan Smith and his ilk, they take pleasure in demonising defenceless sectors of society. The founder of the paper, Lord Rossemere (I might have the spelling wrong but you'll know who he was) was photographed shaking hands with Hitler and printed an editorial praising him, the political views espoused in that rag have not moved since then.

My wife buys The Daily Wail and hits me with it every time I go to pick it up.

Apparently it's aversion therapy to stop me reading it and going off on a rant for half an hour :D

The thing that annoys me the most is that the journalists are well educated and very good at their jobs so they know exactly what they are doing.
They know the real story and probably all the relevant facts but still choose to write garbage.

Daily Mail also go on about civil servants getting a gold plated pension mrs puddy was tax inspector for 38 years and only gets just over £12k a year.

Me I am a benefit scrounger according to Daily Mail

I've beaten them once at the Press Complaints Commission when they printed a ridiculous article about 150 year payback for solar. Time for another application I guess, I'd encourage everyone to do so, it's only a 5 min application process.

What do you want us to say 12k is not a bad pension

The point I was trying to get a across is that all civil servants according to The Daily Mail get massive gold plated pension pay outs

Don't believe all you read in the DM
12k for 38 years is a crap pension

I wouldn't believe anything any Tory rag tells me, and anyone who does needs to wake up and think for themselves, by the way, Well said Trev.

As I said earlier 12k is more than most will get having invested with the men in suits the Labour boom and bust has done nothing for the private pensions of many while the civil servants pensions were bomb proof

I don't believe any of them whatever political affiliation they all spout rubbish

We are not taking this lying down. This from latest STA newsletter:

STA complains to PCC over Daily Mail solar claims
The STA has complained to the Daily Mail about an article early this week which claims solar power can cause heating bills to double. We are used to damaging renewables coverage by the Daily Mail but this was a totally unacceptable claim. The STA requested that the Daily Mail correct this very misleading account of a faulty intervention on a social housing scheme, as a result of a badly installed heat pump. The Daily Mail refused to do so and the STA has referred the issue to the Press Complaints Commission.

As Jerriais says, please add your voice. It won't change the appalling attitude of editor Paul Dacre and his cronies, but it will mean they are held to account.
