Hi, My control unit is operating. The time is displaying and you can use the various functions but the problem is there is no red light illuminating and will not come on. Even the 1hr+ option isn't kicking in. The heating has been used since approx. early april. Hot water fine and so is boiler but the central heating won't operate? Any ideas. Checked fuse at Consumer unit and that's fine.

Slightly odd one that, normally if the control unit is operative then the lights come on regardless of what is connected.
Firstly is your room thermostat set high enough to allow the heating to come on?

Have you tried changing the operation from programming to ON, it is not likely to work since + 1 hr does not work, but worth a try.

If that fails then (after taking note of the programmed dates /times and ensuring you have the instructions) press the select,advance,+,- at the same time to clear the entire memory and then check manual operation, if this then works, re-program the times and dates and you are away.

All this is assuming that there are no other problems with the central heating that may mean the system is held off, but not normally the case.
Failing that your controller has died, usually a burnt out relay or circuit board.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Have tried various methods, but not the option of select, advance,+ and - together, will give that a try, cheers. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks great forum as always, never lets me down having folks like yourself to help out is great.
