well...i have been suspicious of these things for a while now.....lets look at the facts here......firstly the government is desperate to plug these things and is also quite determined that all homes will have them by 2013. So if there under pressure from energy suppliers to install these things by pushing policy through...how is it that the government of the day is so easily persuaded by the energy supplyers (mostly foreign/europian anyway)?....secondly....i dont like the spy within your home/property thing about it and we are quick to be told the virtues of such devices yot they choose to conveniently forget to design em with built in double pole isolation (at the insistance of the DNOs..)...and any organisation that behaves in a secretive way and looks to decieve.....be afraid..be very afraid......

Wouldn't say its sad myself I personally refuse to acknowledge any form of superficial hightened joy on this manufactured date of celebration. Its is just another day. maybe the days are gonna get longer and whoopie to that. I feel rubbish today as i did yesterday. But not half as rubbish as most people will feel in two days when they look at their accounts. I am liberated from the machine ! ........AND I CANT LEAVE ELECTRICS ALONE TOO

i really dont like the idea of these things. I beleive that there is a strong link between electriomagnetic radiation, and cancer. Ive heard it reported on the news, an in the papers for years, people do not want to live near power lines for that reason.
Electronics are becoming more and more widespread, and they emit radiation.
The other week, i put a clamp meter around a cable screen, that was from a Variable speed drive, to a motor. I measured upto 12a, with a low of 6A. this was a large motor (160kw), but its relevant to this argument none the less.
There must be health risks.
What about babies in particluar, who are going to be exposed to this radiation, and their brains are niot fully formed yet. Pregant mothers?

This worries me. I tell you now, if i get this meter installed, i will surround it with lead, and earth it!

the very fact that these things are being forced on us john speaks volumes mate....nobody asked for em.....and it dont look like anybody wants em......all apart from the energy suppliers of course.....so i wonder how much backshishe (to the treasury) is in it n all?.......you watch the adds for these things....can be a lot of giveaways in adds.....like the one with the tiny world and the great big magnifying glass panning across it.....makes you wonder dont it?....british gas i think that one....i dont think i would like to know that some organisation someware is spying into my home.....its bad enough when you walk out the door...........

This is it No one asked for them. And in reality how is it all possible these meters can possibly help us cut energy etc etc. most people dont care. And they certainly would not question the ethics and technology in these devices.
Backshishie for sure. Wonder how the gas one will work?

I live in brighton and am middle of two large attena's so hate to think. All i know is that there is a whole lot of people having migraines these days and feeling pretty depressed. the latter is understandable considering world we live.....

Is there any opportunity at all to refuse these things ?

End of day we always going to face the denial of it all if within a corporate agenda regardless of health issues.

there not about "cutting energy"......its about bringing to our attention how wicked our lifestyles are....using guilt as the cataliser.....well i dont/wont feel guilty and neither will i be steered aroud like cattle....if i wanted that i would spend an afternoon in ikea.....no...the real reason for these "smart meters" is to monitor interuptions then reinstatements in supply...or in other words.....to monitor if someone`s pinching power........they have the ability to send an alarm signal if theres a major event in the supply such as an interuption or a surge/swell etc....this would be an indication that a meter had been bridged/bypassed....by monitoring the return currents on the neutral......
