Data Cables through my trunking!

I've just *completed* quite a large commercial re-wire part of which was offices on a mezzanine floor. I had ran 50x50 trunking round the top of some rooms with drops down to points. I came back to do some final bits and found the data guys have cut holes in the trunking and ran there cat5s alongside! Where do i go with this one?! They must be breaking some regs

They should be seperate.

Yeah exactly band I and band II circuits, insulation isnt rated the same etc etc but where does that stand against a trade that is non electrical

They have to comply with BS6701 according to the note in our bgb


Compliance in our regs is 528.1

You could use the argument that your cables were there first, blames on them then.

I would pull them out and tell them not to put them in for good measure

Bloody right! Luckily the offices are for a subsidary of our firm so i will make sure they dont get a penny until its sorted out!

Yes I know the feeling
There is something primeval about the feeling as well.perhaps its possibly an in build defence mechanism against those that seek our space (pardon the pun)

Been ther mate,new Tesco.
Heating wiring lads done it in my 2x2, at the weekend when we were off site.
PM gave them 24hrs to remove or we cut them out, we hadnt even put anything in it yet!
The ace up the sleeve is refusal of an installation cert as this is a departure from bs 7671.
