Hi, i have been running my own business for 4 years and things have been pretty good, domestically things are a bit quiet for me so i have been doing some commercial refurb work, can you guys give me an idea about london day rates as i am a bit out of touch and a developer has offered me rates that keep me awake at night, also do you charge more for nights and weekend working

Thanks
David

never been offered too much to work, except for the december 31st 1999, was working as shift electrician in docklands.
anyway thats in the past.
the developers builder in question was offering too little, not so as i would go skint but what i was earning as a BMS engineer 5 years ago,
i am out of touch as to what site workers get and jib rates etc as all my work has been for landlords and the rental market and the odd commercial stuff i have done they have paid my normal hourly rates

if you are self employed, sub contracting, you have overheads to cover on top of what you want as wages. generally, you would add 50%-75% on top of what you want as a wage. so if you think £100 a day is fair wage, charge £150+.
