Lock picking is a bit of a hobby, it was suggested by a friend of mine that I would find it interesting some years ago, it has been useful when family members have snapped keys in locks
Made some of my own tools for the mortise locks, pinched some of the brickies stainless steel wall ties

I've been thinking recently about how useful it might be to have a thread where we upload websites/suppliers where you can get "stuff" that's not easily found, and where members have had a good experience. Occasionally I find a supplier that offers gear that is hard to source normally. Anyone else interested to have such a thread?
The site that @snowhead linked to above is a classic example of what I am envisaging. I recently sourced a couple of odd things, namely a site that deals solely in providing lighting transformers etc and one which sells mains transformers for almost anything. Can we share such places?

The set I linked to is a good place to start if you look through the listings you may find it cheaper or even a better set with more picks
I started with a similar set the plastic lock cases let you see what you have to imagine when you come to do it on a real lock, you also get to see and feel how the different picks move the pins
Picking the euro cylinder with the key in the other side and then using the key to "unlock" the door is a good exercise for when someone leaves a key in the lock and your locked out
There are plenty of locksmithing videos on youtube to help you get started, it can get a bit addictive when you start on different types of locks and then start making your own tools and picks

If any friends or relatives are changing cylinder locks it is worth collecting a few to practice on
