Is there any requirement for DC cabling to be protected
- as it passes through a brick wall
- where it bends and enters/leaves a brick wall
- within a garage between where it emerges from a brick wall and enters the inverter?

you should protect in as it passes through a wall ,it can be clipped direct to brickwork but it has to have DC warning stickers on the cable run ,the DI singles also need to be marked ,brown for posi and grey for neg .
hope this helps you
