DC-DC Step Up Converters

Has anyone use or looked into using DC-DC step up converters with PV?

I am looking at small panels that have a similar voltage to the power output, they can be stringed up to a voltage of 50V. This means that many smaller inverters have to be used rather than a single large one.

I am looking into using DC-DC converters to up the voltage in order to use less inverters. Component wise it is theoretically possible but I am just wondering if anyone has thought/heard of this?

Any ideas how to get any converter used MCS accredited?
