I'm in the throws of securing a large commercial project and things where going nicely until the Safety Officer from this company asked me about isolating the DC as a safety precaution for Fire Fighters.
What I would like to know is if anyone knows of a device that shuts down the panels or isolates them in the event of a fire or other emergency
Thank you for your time

We have 2 solutions available - one from Santon primarily for commercial systems, and the other from Area Energy primarily for domestic fire & theft detection. PM me with your email address and I'll send you details if you like?

do they work via a contactor fed from a relay on the fire alarm circuit?

Thanks for the reply Sibert
I can't PM you unfortunatley as I'm only a new member, but if you could post some more information on this thread I would be grateful

Gavin - both systems operate in different ways. I'll put some hyperlinks to our website product pages - The Santon unit is a remotely triggered, motorised DC disconnector designed to disconnect the DC as close to the array as possible (failsafe system). The Solace system is a modular set-up which disconnects the DC and AC in the event of fire/smoke being detected with the provision to disconnect at panel level too with additional modules. Theft detection is also a feature.

We find the Santon unit to be popular for listed buildings, churches and commercial facilities where there is an insurance aspect to the brief. The Solace system is a new offering to the domestic marketplace so any feedback/opinions are, of course, appreciated....
