Whinmoor, do you change the tile for a tile vent like you use for installing fans.??

have seen them on the segen site was going to give one a go, usually grind the tile and put the DC cables underneath with some lead dressed around.

Cheers
Grand

We normally do something like this. We usually break at least one tile by standing in the wrong place so need to replace anyway. The vent tile can be good for temperature reasons if the inverter's going in the loft below.

If anyone has any better or alternative methods, I'd be interested to see them.

we just run the cables through next to one of the brackets where we've ground the lug off the tile, then use Ali flashband around the tile above and below to stop it rubbing on the tiles and cable tie the cables to the bracket. On slate we drill a hole, line the edges with ali flashing to stop rubbing, then cover with a strip of ali flashing from under the slate above.

I really don't see the need for fancy stuff like the deks system in most situations, and I'm not even that convinced of how water tight it will actually be, as that surely depends on how tight the rubber nipple is cut to the cable. We do use them for solar water heating pipe entry though.

13mm oval conduit for 4mm2 and 16mm oval conduit for 6mm2 run alongside a bracket where tile has been ground out and mechanically fixed to the rafter, simples, cheap, effective. (actually recommended to us nearly 3 years ago by our MCS assessor when we first signed up :) )
