Can anyone help me with a paperwork issue?
I've just installed a floodlight onto the external wall of a detached garage. The garage's slave consumer unit (is 'slave' the right term?) had a spare 5A re-wireable fuse so I connected the light into that, the only other part of the circuit being the light-switch to control the floodlight.
I'm not sure what I need to do certificate-wise. I think I read somewhere that work in a detached garage isn't notifiable unless it involves provision of a new circuit across the garden. As the circuit across the garden was already there I presume that means my little lighting circuit isn't notifiable and so there's no need for an EIC?
If I'm right about not needing an EIC, should I issue a minor works cert or would that not be needed either?
Or should I just talk the customer into a full re-wire of the whole house so at least I know I just certify anything that moves?
Any help (facetious or otherwise) much appreciated.
