...no supp bonding or rcd on lighting circuits in bathrooms. C2 i said. According to esc pdf guide!! Easy fix, spare three ways in 16th ed hager board. Busbar is long enough. Install rcd.

Wondering if i can get any hager one to replace pictured are sizes universal?

I thought save money and get 63a one and mix and match lights and sockets so not all of one on one side etc. 100a a bit generous no??!! Wylex provide 63a seemingly as standard.

Thanks boys and girls ImageUploadedByTapatalk1375822077.561406.jpg

The 100A or 63A rating on an RCD is just the maximum current that can safely be put through the device. It does not provide overcurrent protection. Therefore installing a new 100A 30mA RCD would be fine.

I know that mate, 100a one is much dearer so was asking can i get 63a (pr thereabouts) one to save money.

Basically, ignore everything else;
ARE HAGER RCDs UNIVERSAL IN PHYSICAL (not CCC or breaking cap.) SIZE?!?!

Fanks!!

Eddie

Glad to help mate.
Apparently Hagar are the only manufacturer that maintain specs. so that new breakers can be installed in old boards.
Wish others like Wylex did the same!
How would they make a fortune making us change boards if everything matched there is method in their madness

Did you test to see if supplementary bonding was required, at the most no RCD would only be a C3 wouldn't it, as it may not pose a danger even under fault conditions if all other conditions for disconnection times are met !!!! to just slap a C2 regardless doesn't seen right IMO

If you have supp bonding but no RCD the ESC guide states C3 however if no supp and no Rcd the its C2. IMO I'd C2 that without testing if supp was necessary,

Why not, from advice I've been given by NIC, ESC and other electricians, this would be tested against 17th, whilst ok at time of install(perhaps), it doesn't not comply with current regs, therefore requires some code

I Know that but I thought he was looking for a solution to the observation he had made so he could quote to do the remedial work . Just thought it might of been cheaper and easier to do
