Does anyone know what is the difference between the 2391-20 and the new design course they are bringing out to replace it? Also when will the 2391-20 no longer be available?
Cheers

The new 2396 design course is a level 4 qualification , old 2391-20 is level 3.
new course is out now and is the one i'd chose.
i think you have to have the inspection&testing and 17th edition certificates to be eligible to enrole.

Other than it being updated to 1st amendment, and a change of number, i am not aware of any changes in the course content from 2391-20 to 2396.

Hi Howard,

I heard a rumour that you needed the new 2934 and 2395 before you could do the 2396 do you know if this is the case ?
Or could you have the 'old' 2391-10 and still do the 2396 ?

I don't want to sound cynical, but it would not suprise me if C&G (and/or the training companies) were requiring the new courses to be taken ( paying again if you already have 2391-10) prior to the 2396.

I appreciate things were a little uncertain at the end of last year, or do you think this was just the training companies 'trying it on' ?

TIA S68

There are always all sorts of rumours surrounding C&G courses, but i dont understand why.
The only requirement to undertake any C&G qualification that i can see in the bulletins i get from them are that you have to be 18 years of age or older, and that is it.

They do state that is is advisable to have relevant experience in the field that the qual is aimed at, and they do also say that if you have this or that then you will be suitable to undertake the course. A good example being the quote they make on their bulletins regarding the 2394 and 2395 "In order to take this qualification, it is advisable that candidates hold C&G 2382-12 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, and are conversant with testing and Inspection".

I think that this is their disclaimer, to avoid people jumping in at the deep end, and C&G getting bad press due to accusations of being ripped off.

It is down to the training provider to decide what their individual entry requirements are for C&G courses. I vet all applicants coming onto our courses, to ensure that they have enough experience and knowledge to get through irrespective of qualifications. There are lots of top sparks out there without any bits of paper.

Cheers.........Howard
