Guys,

I installed a 6 x 40W halogen light fitting for a customer last night, with a about a hundred blessed glass crystals on it and the customer thinks its to bright now, haha.

She wants a dimmer put on it, can a standard dimmer switch be used for these type of lamps?

should be OK. i would use a 700watt dimmer, might need to fit a 25mm back box though, even if just to give it some space to keep cool. i assume the lamps are 240v, not 12v fed by transformer.
