I recently bought an apartment with 2 Duo Heaters 500i and 300i. Got 2 EPX panel heaters in the bedroms. No central control system. Im finding that the running costs for the Duo Heaters quite high and that they are not heating the room 25sqm enough when i get home in the evenings. I have tried different settings but to no avail. Also the 2 bedrooms are about 13sqm each and that the 2 panel heaters are 1.2kw heaters that dont heat the bedrooms very good. Im wondering if i installed the Central Control System for duo heaters would this improve them? I will replace the panel heaters as i find them totally useless. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. BTW the apt is 5 years old and well insulated.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the control system it's over complicated for what it does in my opinion. The only complaint I ever had about duos is that they are too hot. Don't use the convector heater in the duo its a waste of time, as for the nsh side of it I always found it to be good. Although I did always overspec slightly to what dimplex designed.

As for them being expensive to run how are you comparing them and to what?

How have u set them up, are they getting a full charge?

The convectors in the bedrooms may well be useless, if you can get on with the duos you have may be worth putting them or cheaper alternatives in the bedrooms.

Thanks for you advice. At the moment if i turn off the convector heat and they charge fully overnight using the maximum charge they can take which is about 27kwh. I have taken meter readings to confirm this. They run out of juice by 7pm in the evening with the smaller one gone by 3pm in the afternoon and i have to turn on a heater fan i bought as the convector heat off them is not good enough. I have tried numerous setting with them. So yesterday i set them at 7 for storage and 3 for convector. Its warm this morning in the room but the test will be how warm it is tonight.

As for the bedrooms those panel heaters are terrible so i don't use them and just bring the fan to the room with me.

My last apartment had the same set up but the older type storage heaters and a different panel heater and was so much better.

So I am trying to figure out is it me using the duo heater wrong? Are they not big enough for the room? There does not seem to be a fault as they seem to charge up correctly.

I don't want to spend money to change them but I may have to before next winter.

For the room with the duos you could use the dimplex design service to tell you if it is adequate. You have to download a form to fill in and they tell you what size to use and compare it to what you have. Don't use the convectors on the, use the night storage to the full.

Is there anything you can do to prevent heat loss form the room? Drafts ect.

As a last resort you could replace it for an older larger model of NSH, which look crap but can take more charge.

I have been looking at getting the Dimplex 4 Zone Mains Bourne Controller installed. Just a quick question as i am going to buy the system myself as i can get it cheaper through work and get it installed by an electrician. It says you need a Mains Filter RXMBSF4 along with the Mains Bourne Controller RXMBS4. I asked the guy where i am buying it and he says you dont need that. Is that true?
