Building a fishing rod lathe and could possible need some help advice on the wirring side...

What i want.. Constant speed control, speed control through foot pedal, use in both directions..

What i'm using.. Sewing machine motor with foot pedal 230v AC/<200W, PWM speed regulator 2000W 50-220v AC, 10A 'Click' moduals for switches

The idea... supply to 1way switch for on/off - PWM speed controller - 2way switch - one way to the foot pedal the other way to bypass the foot pedal - intermidiate for polarity reversal - motor..

Think i may need some diodes of some discription for both supplys at the intermidiate to stop one or the other back tracking??

Any help or advice would be much apreciated

Thanx

Diodes won't help you on AC. DPCO camswitch will sort this out. Intermediate switch isn't designed to have L&N across one pole, there's not enough contact separation to prevent it flashing over if switched while live. Might work but better to use another proper cam switch. Why not mod the pedal to control the PWM controller and always run through that?

Original diagram plan..

And new idea after the recomendation of a DPCO

Sorry the diagrams are side ways.. photo bucket wasnt rotating them, well was what i see but not on the URL link!?!? :(

So looking at it now its clearly jst like a set of strappers that link out the foot controler. But having them controled by one rocker mechanisum...

I wont be planing on switching direction under load so hopefully the intermidiate should be ok..

I dont think it really matters which speed control i put first its jst generaly a case of linking the foot controler out

The reason for both speed controls is when i'm whipping eyes on i wont to control with my foot as i work but running throught the PWM to limit max speed so it dosent start spinning 1000 or so rpm, lol And then when i'm waiting for glue/paint etc to dry i can leave it spinning on its own with the foot pedal linked out.. :)

The only prob i'm thinking of now even with the PWM turned right down it might not run as slow as i'd like??

Ok well opted to use DPDT togles for both switching polarity and linking foot pedal out.. but jst had a trile wire up with pwm and foot pedal in series, it kind of did what i wanted.. but the motor didnt sound like it liked the pwm turned right down, it didnt turn as smooth as i liked at low speed and also low speed wasnt slow enough with the pwm perminently powed without foot pedal to slow extra...

Would there be a better motor for the job?

Thanx
