Would I be right in saying that electricity aways knows where it's going in a circuit for example, will current always be drawn from main line and returned on main neutral in the easiest route (I.e lowest impedance route) or does travel up othe conductors they maybe connected to in the board. My understanding is what I said first is correct. Sorry if this is a silly question. Just want to know everything about electricity.

I understand all of that. They just never tought us the real fundamentals of electricity in college. I wanna know if it looks for other routes before it finds it's path down the supply neutral or if it just automatically (through the magic of science) knows where to go.

It always tries to find its way back to the source through a path with least resistance.

Think you will find electricity uses all available paths simultaneously, the current through those paths inversely proportional to the resistance.
To be honest i don't think there is any intelligence involved with "electricity" i dont believe it knows who it is, what it is or where its going, it just has one ambition, to reach its opposite polarity using any and all routes available.

OH and BTW, AC really *ucks its head, doesn't know whether its coming or going... almost feel sorry for it
