Hi Guys

I've not fitted one of these before. Instructions say connect to a 3Amp switched fcu. But they don't say if this can be off the lighting cct or whether it has to be off a power cct.

Logic says to me power cct - so if lights trip, unit still has power - but it has got battery backup. Anyone know?

Cheers

Pete

ive fitted with the lights before now, main reason is that they go in toilet blocks and no sockets circuits were available. like you say they have back up batteries anyway.

They generally have battery back up in case there is power failure. I have installed these off lighting, individual radial and ring mains before. There is very little load just ensure you follow the instructions and put in the spur the 3A fuse.

What make of disable alarms are you guys fitting that has battery back up ? as I have never seen one with a battery back up before

Please just give a thaught to the system, can it be heard by others, or staff if not a repeater or control unit maybe needed, otherwise the toilet alarm is as useful and a chocolate kettle. This is just a comment to try and make installers aware of disabled needs and not a moke on their ability to install.

We fit C-Tec and I have never notice that they have battery back up, I have checked and there is no reference to it having battery back in their paper work have you seen it has m8 ?

Well I stand corrected just been there and read thought below and it has got back up that I never noticed it had before and I have fitted a lot of them, thanks m8 will remember this info for future reference.

NC942B Call Controller c/w onboard 12V PSU, a volume adjustable buzzer, a zonal alarm LED (to provide audible and visual indication of a call), a mute/reset button (for silencing or cancelling calls) and a volt-free relay with normally open, closed and common contacts rated at 30Vd.c. @ 1A. It also includes a 500mA battery back up facility that will continue to power the system for up to 24 hours standby and 15 minutes (alarm running time) in the event of mains failure. The controller’s label also includes Braille text for the benefit of visually impaired members of staff.

Timeguard is also a good unit, and only uses 2 core alarm cable upto 4 toilet units, the mains supply is only on the control unit which is usually installed in reception areas etc. Anything above 8 toilets we use intercall.
