Discharging to earth

probably a simple question but can anyone tell me the correct way to discharge a large motor circuit or long cable run to earth following proving dead a circuit?

Can you enlighten us a little more, are you refering to capacitive charge???

what i mean is:

when proving dead a circuit it states in our process to

test:
prove test equipment
phase to phase
phase to neutral
phase to earth
neutral to earth
prove test equipment

and for large motor circuits or long cable runs also discharge to earth????
