Can someone tell me how to calculate the distance between the rows. How it's usualy done: formula for axample..i knew a formula something like 90-l-23.5.....it was something like that....distance only depending from the latitude....any suggestion is welcomed..tnanks in advance

Take the winter solstice sun angle at mid day (usually around 15 degree in UK, but depends on latitude) calculate height of module top edge project line from top edge at 15 degree down to set out front of next row, allow a little tolerance 50mm should do, dont forget all your build up in the heights eg frame etc.

OK thanks for the answer....maybe i should have asked how to obtain the winter solstice sun angle at mid day in my country....that is in fact what i need..if someone have link to some web page...please paste it here

do you have a further specs
modules/Kwp roof layouts etc to work out row spacing
or can offer system for flat roof that requires no spacing 100% coverage

Far to complicated. We always work on 3 times the height. Overall height of panel at angle say 500mm then row distance will be o less than 1500mm. We would the add a little on just to be sure. On all our ground mounts so far it works. We even have a picture to prove it. Good rule of thumb to know.

As a rule we useformula below if you need a digram with legend PM me

A= angle ofarray

B = angle of sunon shortest day = 18 degrees
X = length ofmodule
Y = height ofback of array
Z = separationbetween rows

Z = X sin A
Tan B
Example:
module = KC130, length = 1.425m
angle of sun = 18 degrees
angle of array = 30 degrees

then, separation between rows = Z = 1.425x sin 30 = 2.19m
tan18

Got to be careful when using RoT on what your latitude is tho.

As we work in the same areas the latitude difference is not an issue. There is enough complication in the industry with out looking for more. If it works in your area (and it does for Norfolk & Suffolk) then use it. We worked through about three different equations on row distances and all came in to 3 x's the height. We work to this and add a little for all our console ground mounts and all work. Shade in winter months never hit the back row stopping short by several mm from the panels.

Yep agree if it works use it, was just commenting as a footnote as obviously in Scotland you need to check it works for you!

Also dont forget to do your near (trees or even bolts in the support system) and far horizon (hills in distance) shading if you want accurate output stats.

Personally I would leave the best part of a metre from the last ps broc to the start of the onions. This space will be required at harvest time and all the land will be reclaimed ready for a new crop in May when the broccoli finishes.

Onions would normally be planted about 150mm apart in the row with 300mm between rows. (More if you have big boots.)
