Hi,

i have a supply from my main DB in the house supplying my garden shed. The garden shed has a small DB supplied by SWA. I would like to use the shed DB to supply my summer house and then from the summer house onto an additional shed.

Obviously, I realise there are other factors to take into account. But was wondering if this is permissible under the regs. The cable will be buried in the ground.

Also, could anyone point me in the direction of where this could be found in the regs book or OSG?

Thanks

chris

Hi Chris. So you are saying that you want to extend the supply from your shed to the summer house & additional shed?
There are soooo many factors for this extension. It is possible but you have to give us a lot more info about existing supply and new supply.

There isn't a Regulation allowing or prohibiting this.
What there is, are a number of Regulations that relate to electrical installations.
It could be that what you propose complies.
However it is more than likely that the existing run of cable from the house to the shed is too small to be extended.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice. Basically, I spent 3 years at college part time doing C&G 2365. Can't get no practical experience from anyone. Im 38 and can't afford to live on ÂŁ145 per week which I have been offered by one company. So, the only way I can get experience is doing bits at home. I'm confident in the cable calcs, method of installation, volt drop etc. just wanted to see if this was feasible.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris
I understand where you are coming from. If you do design the system and want to implement it, please remember that it would be notifiable work.
As others have said, earthing is critical in your calcs.
Cheers
