Reported a high Ze to EDF 3 weeks ago now, so far after what seems like 6 billion phone calls 1 street gang has been out, dug up the road and not solved the prob, got told that their manager would have to come out and assess the situation, as they would probably need to replace the incommer and the service head, that was 4 days ago.

Is it usual for them to take so long?????? when i 1st reported the problem the woman on the phone said it would warrant a 24hr response, then it took 2 and a half weeks????????

meanwhile i cannot cerify my re-wire cos the Zs readings are too high

I am having a similar problem with a house with no service earth. Could have put a rod in but this is 2010 and the street is on a PME network, waiting for new PME connection ÂŁ154 8 to 10 weeks!.
So to answer your question yes it is normal to wait forever.

if it were a house than maybe rod it, but it is a big georgian house converted to flats and it is a 3 phase incomer with a flat on each phase, i only re-wired one flat, so dont see why i should tt one flat when it is the dno's supply earth that is the prob

ive had a house just installed a socket went to test the Zs and it went to infinity >2000 so cover off board checked at board still >2000 so ive contacted DNO and nothing not call been nothing , and they expect us to wait for them to cut and re seal there meters ,try calling the emergency line on the back of the customers bill say the installations unsafe they may call , thats my next move

We done some work on a new build block of small commercial units about 10 years ago, afterwards EDF had trouble with the PME supply , their temporary solution was to run a 70mm earth wire all round the perimeter of the block. At each unit the insulation was stripped off and a tenby bonding clamp connected to the cable with a bit of 16mm into the unit!! The 70mm was just laying on the deck with a clip every 3m or so.
Two years ago I returned to one of the units to do a PIR and to my horror found it all still there!....The unit I was testing had no earth at all as the bit of 16mm had come adrift from the bonding clamp and was swinging in the wind. Needless to say I reconnected it but ultimately failed the installation as I dont consider the above to be a satisfactory means of earthing. How about 200m of 70mm copper laying on the deck hasnt been spotted and liberated by the local pikey population I'll never know........anyway the company on the recieving end of the PIR contacted EDF to ask about a proper PME solution and was told the current arrangement was satisfactory and I had no right to fail their earthing system!!.......Was there a few weeks ago and it is still the same, and I noticed another 16mm on another unit flapping in the wind................
