Hi

Ive got 2330 level 2 and 3, part p, regs, pat testing, management of pat testing, 2392 inspection and testing.

I know the regs has to be updated but what about the others?

Do they run out after a few years and you have to re-do them? I know some qualifications only qualify you for a set period of time, after which you have to re-do them.

Or are they like a driving license, once you have them theyre for life?

I only ask because i did my pat testing a few years ago now, but ive never used it. So im as competent to do pat testing now as I was before the course. But because of my certificate, im still classed as a "qualified pat tester"

many thanks if you can help

Regs is the one course that needs updating, but the testing side of things at the moment is being changed and splt in to different courses, the 2393 and the 2394. and by the way your photo card for your driving license has a valid date to. As for your Pat testing course theres no valid date but they do recommend a refresher course every few years. but depends how much you do it i guess. hope this helps.

Your qualifications are for life. However, some may need updating from time to time, the regs being a good example. Most other C&G quals get a revamp from time to time, the 2377 Pat course is a good example, but this has only had a change to its title number, and the on line test is longer, the content is the same, and so is the practical assessment. I feel that this will change sooner rather than later, because the current 3rd edition book is still in 16th edition terminology.

Some quals get replaced with new ones. 2391-10, is going, and 2394 and 2395 replace it, but if you hold 2391, then you do not need 2394 and 2395. 2391-20 is going and 2396 replaces it, but 2391-20 is still valid.

The C&G changes this time around are due to the qualifications being migrated to the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF), this is the same way a NVQ is run. The only exception to this is the regs course, this has updated because the new regs are out, but it is also on the QCF.

Cheers.............Howard
