6" of twisted together cpc sharing a sleeve.?Twisted conductors are one the most irritating things especially when doing an EICR
Another one of my hates is fastafix boxes fixed before the wall is plastered
That guy is a bit deluded anyway, MK and quality linked in the same sentence
When I started, the old guys swore that you ought to twist them, only us newbies that had been re-directed by college didn't.Open circuit's on RFC were not common all them yesterday's, wonder if doing the twist helped that.
6" of untwisted together CPC sharing a sleeve......................................saves 3 quid a year as well!!6" of twisted together cpc sharing a sleeve.?
So some walleh can save himself 3 quid a year in sleeving.
Back then there wasn't the level of testing we have nowOpen circuit's on RFC were not common all them yesterday's, wonder if doing the twist helped that.
QUITE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY WITH SOLID CONDUCTORS THHAT AREN'T MEANT TO BE TWISTED TOGETHER PS sorry for shoutingOpen circuit's on RFC were not common all them yesterday's, wonder if doing the twist helped that.
We still did e2e testing on a ring.Back then there wasn't the level of testing we have now

We certainly did, I also agree with your comments. We still did e2e testing on a ring.
I never ever found an open ring if the cables were twisted together, if there was an open point it was always where they weren't twisted together.
You may have found a high resistance socket outlet due to a missing or lose screw, but the ring itself was always still good.
I wouldn't twist conductors together these days, but actually don't see it as a problem if they are (unless you are trying to split it!)
What testing. The "Megger" only came out when we did pyro. Long time ago though.Back then there wasn't the level of testing we have now
It's bad enough having metal boxes with plaster slopped in them without having a fastafix box slopped with plasterHow come? They look better that way as you get a nice flush surface to screw the socket to. Especially if flat plate or something. Must admit though I prefer to nog out and metal ko box.
I can only think it’s because if you need to take them out it damages the wall? Or maybe because if they haven’t been cut in nice and tight they move and take the plaster out? You definitely don’t want them in there loose.
simple - just leave a live cable end sticking out the box. soon keep the sloppers metal trowel away. It's bad enough having metal boxes with plaster slopped in them without having a fastafix box slopped with plaster
And as you mentioned if it ever has to be replaced you end up with a mess to patch
That's why I usually push the two cps's into the chuck of my cordless... that way you can get a really tight twist... no bu88er is ever getting those fellas apart !!Over some 30+ years, the conductors separated in the sleeving enough to be open circuit.
