do you need to run jobs to get the jib rate, i dont run jobs but would like to, but do i have to to get the rate?

There are different jib rates depending on qualifications(grading). are you working for a jib firm ?
check out jib web site for rates.

im jib graded and work for a jib firm but when i asked for a rise they said no because of the resecion, surely if there payed up members they have to pay it me.

Your firm sounds like my old firm, i quit last week!

Ive noticed a lot of firms scare mongering of late, personally most people i know have work and are busy, especially in the sparky trade. Most the guys on the firm i worked for our fairly gd sparks and most of them nice enough guys, after getting rid ofmost subbies theres been talks by our director of tough times ahead and we all got to stick together and well ride this recession out and emerge the other side intact.

Well while we are ridding this out and doing as he says weve had our overtime rates abolished completely, i used to run bank refurbishment jobs in londen mainly with 4+ guys under me all the time and always for jib 12.96 an hour, my firm wouldnt even pay londen weighting to me. I worked a lot of nights and weekends over the last few years and regularily clocked up 70-80 hours a week including travel but i didnt mind as i was getting time and a half and doubletime.
Now all the overtime rateshave gone and my travel times have been cut in half and they gave me a company phone so i had to log in and out at work to make sure i wasnt taking the **** out of them basically means i was earning half what i use to 1 year ago for exactly the same hours worked.

heh.......basic crux of what im saying is that every i taking the **** out of there workforce because they think everyone is too scared to leave.

Look for a job elsewhere, i spent a year getting more and more stressed, seeing my family less and when i did was grumpy etc, dont let them drag you down.

sorry for rant had a bad year.

Is it the annual rise in January 2009 you are talking about when you say they said no or one above this negotiated pay rise?

How long have you been with the firm?

3 options are open to you

First is to contact the union if you are a member.

Second is contact the JIB stating your case.

Third start looking for a new job.

what rate are you on electricians, approved, do you want tech's rate ? do you have 2391 test and inspection certs?
Dont take extra responsibility with out extra money. personal deals always availible, just dont get to funny and finished up.
