If you leave it long enough in Merthyr you will have to look for it, it'll be long gone.
Anyway, there's a recall on the new shape Transit. The software on the body control module needs updating. The main problem is the alarm going off whenever it feels like. I've had to leave it unlocked overnight whenever I'm home. If I'm working away I just park somewhere where I won't hear the alarm going off.

Not electrical but I found this amusing. While wandering around Merthyr waiting for my Transit to have the work done on it's recall I saw this on a busy(ish, as busy as Merthyr gets) street. I didn't see a scafftag on it though. They did take safety seriously, those planks are screwed into the ally poles of the scaff

One of a list of jobs during a small referb of a guest house on a large estate was to replace the built in oven and hob.
Thought there might have been connectors under the tape.

Nope, just twisted together! That is a 2.8kW oven and 5.5kW hob, twisted and taped. Can't have had much use, didn't see any signs of overheating.

The wood screw holding the cooker switch back was the fist sign of issues.

Just to complete the picture this was found on the other side of the room. Outside light supply tapped off a socket cable via connector blocks stuffed in the wall. There was easily enough slack cable and space in the 35mm back box to fit an FCU.

Looking at a potential job recently, discovered what appeared to be a very narrow CU! However opening the cupboard door revealed a full size board!
You can see where the door has been scribed around the CU profile to provide a close fit! Ingenious or what?

30-minute job turns into a nightmare.

Ceilings are going to have to be taken down to get access.

Cables clipped to the floorboards, a first for me.

It had 5 Fcu's in the ceiling feeding upstairs sockets, I'm guessing he thought every spur needed a fcu for each socket outlet.

Eicr done 3 months ago.
I had to pull a floorboard to install smokes, guess it's going to take a bit longer

The underside of the floorboards look painted…. So exposed at one time? The cables would have been clipped if on show.

It’s just been added to badly over the years?… then ceiling put up and forgotten about.

Yes, you can see the joists are painted black.

Instead of clipping to the joists, he clipped to the floorboards for some reason.

Loads of junction boxes, some for no reason other than the cable was too short.
