Hi all,

just a quick Question i've started looking for some commercial electrical work as a mate/improver, i have been steadily building up my experience started off with domestic and then commercial.

I am starting to send off my CV to agencies and companies to carry on with my training and building up experience to start my NVQ, but i was wondering if you think it will be worth spending the money to do my IPAF will that make much of a difference to employers will that give me a big enough advantage considering the cost?

cheers

If you do the IPAF, make sure you do the 3A (scissor) and 3b (cherry).
You should be able to do both on the same day, cheaper than doing them separately.
Ask about Harness training.
A couple of places I’ve worked at want you to have Harness training as well as IPAF?

thanks for the reply,

Ye ill ask them about harness training aswell, the place i phoned said you can definitely do the 3a/3b on the same day, are those the ones most useful to electricians etc?

cheers

Hi mate, I did IPAF when I was doing my quals and it definitely came in handy. Used it quite a lot in my first year doing high bay lights in warehouses and other bits. It's just another string to your bow which puts you ahead of the rest. It lasts five years too so you're bound to use it at some point in that time
