Hi, I'm a recently qualified spark and I do mostly commercial and industrial installs and not much maintenance work, I'm looking to move over to oz in about 2 years and I'll be door a vetassess exam which is like an AM2 but a little different.

What I'm looking for is some info on the best/safest way for me to set up a rig at home with a dol starter so I can keep my eye in and just play about with it. I've been looking at small 24v motors and a transformer. Any help would be much appreciated as my experience with starters and emergency stops is pretty much restricted to classrooms.

Cheers

Obviously not, what is it with this site and people needing to feed their smarmy attitudes by posting unhelpful replies???

Get yourself a reasonable 230/ 24v transformer, a dol starter with a 24v coil then possibly a couple of lamps to indicate if working or not. you can then add remote start stop and the likes at your leisure.
As you realise you don't need three phase to check control circuit.
Make sure you have the right coil in your starter to suit transformer ie. ac or dc.
hope this helps

Thank you for your quick and sensible response.

Then ask Tony how to wire the dol for a single phase supply. Might learn a bit more.
