Hello all,

I've got to change a fuse board in a 3 bed semi, but the customer has asked if there is one with a lockable front cover, due to the fact that his 2 young boys keep switching the power off. There is no practical way of moving the fuse board out of reach without a lot of work either.

Cheers

Tom

I have seen one job when the little securing tab snapped off the front flap of a CU and the spark had gotten a normal key lock for a filing cabinet or cash lock box and fitted that to the front panel to hold it instead. This was a new build Wimpey Taylor house my nan had gotten

That's an alternative cause of "nuisance tripping".

I would say that Regs 513.1 and 512.2.2 would prevent using a lock, and it'd need a code for an EICR on "Adequacy of access to switchgear and other equipment."

Hows your woodworking skills? Build a cupboard around the cu with a lock that only the adults have the key for. Seen this in plnty of student houses.
