I am pleased to have received the warranty pack but I have concerns that I wish to raise with you regarding the quality of the installation, finish and subsequent clean-up which have become apparent.
Now the scaffolding is down and I have had a chance to inspect the array in daylight it is obvious that the work is not of the quality that would be expected. I do not know if it a characteristic of the mounting system but the panels are mounted at a substantial distance from the roof. Consequently there is an unnecessarily large void between the panels and the roof and it is possible to view between this and see a tangle of loose cabling which looks ugly and is unacceptable. This cabling should have been secured while in-situ and is nearly impossible to easily rectify now. I don't know if the wrong brackets were used, if they were mounted wrongly or it is a flaw in the design of the mounting system but either way it looks a mess, not like any of your installations on your website or any other installation I have seen in my local area. The rails are also not mounted equidistantly from each other, 3 sets are fine but 1 isn't, I have no idea why this is the case but again it looks ugly. The rafters are equal distances apart so I can see no logical explanation for this other than it being a mistake which wasn't rectified. The panels mounted on this set were clambered over by your colleges on several occasions (which I witnessed first-hand and washed off a muddy boot streak the following day) and at least one appears to have been slightly bent by this. The rails are towards the edges of the panels so they do not provide good support and hence I don't think it would have bent if the rails were positioned the same as the other three sets.
There is a noise coming from the loft, like a pecking noise which comes in waves, I have no located its source yet, it might just be birds.
The house, garden and driveway were strewn with litter after your left. I understand that a certain level of mess is unavoidable and I didn't mind disposing of certain items such as the cardboard panel surrounds or the odd cable tie for example but I think this went way beyond this. An anchor bolt which was left on the driveway punctured the car tire of the lodger who lives with my Mother. I'm sure you'll agree that this is totally unacceptable and I am embarrassed to have allowed this to happen.
As you well know I paid ÂŁ12,000 for this installation and I'm not happy with the state of it, I doubt the cables will withstand 25 years of wind and weather and I certainly can't stand to look at it for any longer. To put it right it will take me a day or two and cost me ÂŁ100's. I'll need to buy a new mounting system and basically redo the whole thing and I have no idea how I'm supposed to do that without scaffolding. I cannot provide you with a solution to resolve this matter so all I can suggest is you inspect the work for yourself and propose one. I can send photos to verify my findings if required.
With regard to the punctured tire I suggest that you send a cheque to K Mills at the installation address for ÂŁ10 (which only covers the cost of the repair, not the fuel, time or compensation for general inconvenience to Ken and embarrassment to me) made out to Kenneth Mills in order to resolve that issue.
I will send you a hard copy of this email via recorded post with the form which you requested me to sign and return when I go back to University and have access to my printer.
This guy got his electrics upgraded FOC, Sanyo HIT 250 panels in the height of the madness and it was pitch dark when we left, maybe a cardboard sleeve was in the garden who knows! - this really cheered me up over xmas - why do i read my emails when im supposed to be not working!
This install was done on the 18th november over a month ago.
