Door Entry System problems

Installing a door entry system, had everything wired up and connected however the magnet seems to be extremely weak and can open the door no problem.

Checked voltage at the magnet, 12 V which is correct - any ideas?

How long is the Run?
Can you double the conductors?

it is a very short run only a few metres.

Does this sound like a conductor size problem?

what make system or is the mag a separate make.

could be voltage or the plate isnt marrying up to the lock correctly,take the plate off the door and put over lock,if you cant budge it its a position problem.

system is videx and so is the mag lock

thanks alarm man I tried the magnet straight onto the plate and the magnet was solid. It was my numpty of a colleague who fitted the position of the magnet and I suspected that this may have been the problem. He tried several times to reposition but still could not get it to hold, could hear the magnet buzzing

sometimes its just that the plate is too tight on the door,it should have a bit of play,videx is quality kit,so it will be something simple to put right.

Thats where i was thinking as on some there is a contact pair in the middle that pull in the mag

the contact pair is only for systems which monitor door left open status,normally its a case of the plate is the wrong way round
