My neighbour had a second doorbell chime fitted a while ago, Both chimes are fed from the original transformer in parallel, with another bell wire core between them to ring them both. The bell push is connected to the second chime.
I had a quick look today, and sometimes everything works, other times not.
ie, when button is pushed, both chimes go Ding, release the button, both Dong.
I’m certain it’s been connected up correctly, but will draw a circuit diagram for it if I need to.
When it doesn’t work, you can hear the solenoid buzzing when pressed, and a slight dong when released
My thoughts are, the transformer isn’t powerful enough to operate 2 solenoids at the same time.
Is my initial suspicion correct?
Can you get a wired electronic type sounder that wouldn’t be affected by lack of power?
Ive got a Byron rf doorbell in my own house that gets plugged in, with a battery powered push button. Is there an rf option that takes power from the transformer, and the ability for one bell push to operate two bells?
