Hello there everyone i have a question on ferrules, i`m pretty sure that when you have a double ferrule when they are say a 1.00m2 ferrule, that would allow for either
2x1.00m2 core cables to be crimped; or
2x0.5mm2 core cables to be crimped

Please can this be clarified :)
I was just looking around on the internet and had never had to actually order ferrules, people i work with always had them!
Thanks

Double ferrules are wider but not thicker then a standard ferrule at the cable end and would normally be described as 2 x 1.0mm and so take two 1.0mm cables at the same time.
If you have a wide ferrule labelled 1.0mm then it would be for two 1.0mm cables, if it is a round ferrule labelled 1.0mm then it is for a single 1.0mm cable.

Cheers guys, i assumed that a 1mm double ferrule would take 2x1mm cables but wasn`t 100% so i thought might aswell ask! :)
And was looking in the RS catalogue so why i asked aswell! :p

CPC do them quite cheaply,as well as double or single ferrules there are also FRENCH and GERMAN ferrules, the difference being the colour code used for each size ie if 0.5 is blue in french it could be red in german .CPC have all the info on their website.

Hi again guys, yeah Ive been tasked with wiring a panel (change over) for the first time at work and have been told to order everything as if it was my job sort of speak, was just making this list etc! And it will be Tri-rated cable! Wish me luck! :) Might post up some pictures on installs when i finish it!

Remember to factor in trunking runs as they can "eat up" a fair amount and work off chassis plate size not the enclosure size when speccing.

Here's one I built showing amount of trunking...

Funnily enough, after the problems I had, next time I ordered from RS I checked and they warned me some ferrules won't fit tri-rated!

Been a few years since I was involved in panel building. Maybe the ferrules have followed everything else in the world, and are now a teeny bit smaller than they used to be...
I'm assuming it's getting the insulation into the ferrule sleeve that you have had problems with?
