Hi there sorry if I’m not making myself clear from the title, I live in a bungalow.

basically I want to add a double socket in the attic with the ability to turn it on and off from my passageway just below the attic door,

would this be possible by adding a switch to my existing light switch ?

For a start a socket should not be off a light circuit!

It would also be very unwise to mix two circuit supplies on one switch, and most light switches are only rated at 10A anyway which is inadequate for a 13A socket as you can see.

Safest option should you later want some more outlets in the attic, but are happy with a total of 13A is to use a fused switch from the usual ring circuit that the rest of your sockets are using. If you want it to be obvious when it is on then you can get such switches with a neon indicator to show when they are powered:

If in any doubt ask a professional electrician to come and sort it out. They will also do full testing of the resulting sockets to make sure they are safe.

Unfortunately not, for multiple reasons, but the main one being that lighting circuits are generally lower power (6 Amp) circuits, and sockets need more like 13+Amps.

Is there a socket nearby on either side of the wall? It may be possible to take a feed from that up through a fused spur (which looks something like a light switch but has a fuse in it). That would need to be done by someone who can safely do the work though.

What do you want to power from the double socket?
Easily done mate like the previous spark said supply from socket into 13A switched fused spur. Then from the load side of that spur take cable up into attic and if you want a light up there incorporate another fused spur with 5A or 3A fuse in there rather than the 13A and jobs a good un ?

Aslong as your not growing you’re tomatoes up there? ?
