best way to line them up and keep them nice and straight??

i just use my tape measure along with vision and line of sight but what way do you chaps do it, surely there is a quick way!

i have done it the hard and the easy way. hard way was tape measure and pencil. took an age but they are bang on in my own bedroom so you have to have them right or it`s not worth the ear ache. i prefer the laser level combined with the chalk line.

Lazer level. No marks on the ceiling as opposed to the chalkline.

Used to use a tape measure, pins and string which always worked well, but use a laser/chalk line combo now.

Why both Laser AND chalkline? Surely one or t'other is good on their own?
