down lighters

Hi all,

In my bathroom i have 6 GU10 warm white downlighters at 50watt each now its like blackpool illuminations when you turn them on :D bit of overkill by me when i had them put in.
Now i was wondering about LED bulbs which type would be a direct swap for them any links would be great.
Im also liking the idea of LED as the cost of runing them would be cheaper but the initial outlay on the bulbs would probably be expensive ?

You will need to check the height you have avalible, which will be restricted by the lamp holder. If your lamp holders are fixed you may have a problem, however if you have loose lamp holders Phillips do a range of good quality LED bulbs designed to be retrofitted in to existing fittings. (search amazon)

LED fittings for GU10's are available BUT I suggest you sit down before you work out how much they cost.

There are various suppliers on line and I think I saw some on offer a few weeks back for about £11.00 each + VAT.

You could swap the 50w for 35w bulbs?

Tool station do GU10 led 1.8w for £5-£6 inc vat.

Ive got 6 of them in me bathroom, they look the part, nice white cool light, but they wouldn't look too impressive if your bathroom is a warm colour, mine is a gloss white suite with grey tiles.

Cheers.........Howard

Diamond lighting look like a good company, I saw them at the elex exhibition. Dont know if it is just sales pitch but they said a standard gu10 based on 10 hours use per day costs £18 to run per lamp per year compared to led which works out at just over £1. If this is even close to being true they should pay for themselves quick enough. They worked out at about £7 per lamp.
