Down lights for wall paintings

I've been asked to install down lights in a couple of fairly large rooms that will light up all the various portraits and paintings that are in them. The clients had a Chelsea based company "design" and install them in another room a while back so they wanted the same lights.

Ouch! The company got back to me and are charging the proverbial arm and leg (plus your meat and two veg for good measure) for not many lights. The ones previously installed do provide a good effect, soft and smooth light with soft edges but is there a cheaper alternative out there that someone can reccommend. Oh and dimmable and preferably LV.

Let me guess they were from a company in Kings Road by the name of John Cullan ot Cullam,

Just make sure the lamps are UV screened , Mr Resistor Fulham road will be able to sort you out

Maybe - Maybe Not... didn't want to dis any particular company (but you were closer with your first guess )

Nice one bugsy I'll definitely follow up on your suggestion... I've found their details on the web.

Don't think I asked them to quote for the UV "additional" option, that would have added a few more sheckles to the price.

If not dissing them, very good products a we get them spec'ed a lot ( by designers not consultants ) Solid brass / bronze superb workmanship but very expensive

make sure the lamps are screened otherwise they will in time ruin the paintings ( they will start to fade )

Sorry bugsy, you were spot on to pick the right company in the first place but this one is in deepest, darkest Kent.

Just wondered as we did an installation there ( mayfair ) for a team of designers from the states who were based in Kings Road and they had lots of top notch paintings
