on a refurbishment of a house are fire rated down lights a recommendation or a regulation
also do smoke alarms need to be an a separate rcbo or can they go on the lighting circuit

also dose the bathroom need to be on a rcbo, or just on a rcd side of a mains board

If your installing the downlights then yes. Some people dont on the 1st floor when loft space above but they should all be fire rated. building regs state this (it wont be long before we have fire rated back boxes for sockets etc in plasterboard walls)
Smokes and lights can be used on a rcd protected side or via individual rccb (does not need to be seperate cct but every smoke should be on same cct)
Bathroom can be on rcd protected mcb or rccb (most refurbs will have cables buried less then the 50mm so just use a 17th edition board, check out Hager web site or the BRB for guide)
