Downlight convertor kits

anyone ever used downlight convertor kits are they any good?

I haven't tried one yet but the last few of the big eye ball down lights I removed took half the ceiling down with them. A note of caution if the ceilings are made from anything other than decent plaster board

job is to replace old r80 spots in local football club bar is a single story building was thinking of using convertor kits and fitting gu10 led lamps if budget permits. would you fit fire hoods in this situation

Depends on what is within the void its self where the fittings are to be fit, I would recommend GU10 LED's that are fairly expensive in the first instance but will pay for themselves in no time in your scenario due to saved energy. Also there is very little heat omitted.

is just a loft space above are 16 fitting in total cheap option is 50w halogens but like you say use a lot more energy and would be blowing every 5 mins gonna quote for both and explain the benefits of leds 800watts per hour or about 120 watts and no re lamping for years

Suggested 5 watt LED's that give "around" the same lux output would be 80 watts total so 10% power used compared to the 50 watt halogen GU10's
