Hi

I have been asked to look into removing 4 x wall mounted lights which will no longer be needed AND then install 12 x downlighters (not sure if low voltage just yet).

Can anyone give me some advice please as to the best way of going about it?

Best way to completely remove existing light cables etc and should I come off the first part of the old light cabling run or with the amount of downlighters required (12) should a new circuit solely for these be used etc.

Any advice please?

Thanks

What is the load on the existing circuit? Protective device?is the existing wiring any good, check for cpc, maybe do r1&r2 to confirm, some older properties didnt have cpc in lighting cables.how are they switched.

If the existing wiring was sufficient, and the switching was going to remain unaltered, could you get to the wall lights cable in the ceiling and use 17th edition junction box(maintenance free) to extend to first downlight and wire new lights from this?

Hi thanks for the reply,

Thats what I am thinking.

Have you got a link to one of those 17th edition junction boxes?

Also I will do the checks when I go see it tomorrow.

Presuming everything is ok etc what do you suggest?

Chris

17th edition junction box by Ashley code J804 20amp 4 terminal. Should be stocked by City Electrical Factors.

Cheers.

Yep use ashley maintenance free jb(these are different)they have push in connections so are fine for locations where they are inaccessible, need more info on loading etc
