downlights near water pipes?

Hi, anyone know a rule of thumb when it comes to plastic hot water pipes?
If people wamt to keep insulation i always use hoods but unsure on plastic pipes, as they carry hot water would they be effected from being too close??? Any thoughts or views welcomed

I always use the lamps that throw the heat out the front of the lamp or led if I come across a light that has been fitted close to a pipe etc

as long as the pipes are far enough away not to be melted by the heat from the downlighters, then no problem. if in doubt, fit LEDs. with plastic pipes there is no problem with heat fron the hot water in the pipes affecting electrical equipment.

I'd use the recommended "air" gap as outlined by the downlight manufacturer

The hot pipe won't affect the light. But, if the light melts the pipe, you got big problems. I saw it happen in a restaurant. Cowboy sparks hired by the builder. Pipe burst. Ceiling came down.

stick to what says on the tin 50mm minimum is least ive came across...

i was messing around with sensors i took out of a place this week, and go wey hey they worked and me and kids were jumoing around to turn light on and stuff and wey hey melted me new metalic blue toaster trim.....

they hot so stick to manufacture instructions to sleep tight

I know 1 thing for certain and that is that plumbers don't give a ---- when the scenario is the other way around!!!!!!!!!!!!

Downlights are the better source of lights near water pipes but few things should be considered like if pipe will melt due to the downlights,then we have to used the plastic pipes and should used the LEDS.

well to be fair, ive had to replace a section of hepworth plastic pipe due to a sparky installing downlights in a hall, causing it to melt and flood the ceiling.
