Hi,

Is it acceptable to extend an existing 6mm t+e (Old cooker) with 2.5mm t+e (which could then feed new conservatry sockets) if you had a 20A MCB in the Dist board?

I personally can't see a problem with this, as the circuit is protected to the weakest link so to speak.

I said this to the electrician I work with today and he was adament I was wrong and it wasn't allowed.

Is it acceptable and if not why?

Thanks

acceptable. IMHO. you could also fit a13A FCU by the cooker point to be absolutely certain

Well, the full story is that we've completly rewired the kitchen, which has had a new 10mm cooker supply. It's got an attic, so the existing is going to be recovered anyway.

It's about 20 odd meters to the DB so rather than pull in a new cable, I would have just put a JB on and fed the sockets in the new conservatory as a 20A radial.

Thanks
