DPD = Don't Post Deliveries. For some reason, Amazon insist on using them even though we ask them not to as DPD have never successfully followed any sort of mapping or delivery instructions and got to our house. 4 times we have had to try and track a number down for them which a human answers (this takes a while sifting through all the complaints on the web) and 3 times insisted they return the same day with the parcel. 1 time I had to meet the driver in a nearby football field, another time in the village car park and last time a branch manager drove it to us but missed the house and I had to walk up the lane to him. The excuses are usually the same "Customer not in" which of course we always have been. They even claim to have left invisible cards! The latest excuse for not bothering to drive down a lane was "Customer refused delivery", why they think I would refuse something I had ordered and paid for next day delivery I really don't know.

I will certainly be urging Amazon and everyone I know NOT to use DPD, they really are completely incapable of delivering anything to this part of the world.

Rant over for now. . . . . . .

I know , they're absolutely useless! Same as apc, i had a delivery recently, i could have had it next day if i'd been home, i got the card and rang the number on the back, eventually got through to a human being, tried to get it delivered to a different address,no! Tried to get it left on my property if i left my signature in an envelope attached to the door, no! Can you leave it with one of my neighbours? Which one? They reply, i don't know which ever one is in, no sorry we need a number, ok try number 18,20 and 22, no sorry we can only try one of them! Jesus christ! I just stayed home in the end

Bit of the subject but some years ago when i was doing the OU a report came in that one of the students had rang the OU to say he had not recieved the equipment which he needed for his course, so they sent him out a second set.

It turned out the postman had delivered it but had left it at the bottom of the road to his house which was only found when the snow had melted as it started snowing just after the postman dropped off the equipment and where he lived it was snowing continiously over the winter

If you think DPD are bad you should read some online reviews about Yodel. I once ordered some stuff from a company which use them; you can 'track' the delivery online:
1st day failed delivery, no card left.
2nd day failed delivery, card left with a phone number to call (10p a minute, gave up after about 20 minutes) if you want to collect your parcel from the delivery office. Emailed a complaint.
3rd day failed delivery, no card left. No response to complaint so emailed another.
4th day failed delivery, card left. No response to complaint so emailed another. Googled 'Yodel' to try to find out where their delivery office is so I could go in there and speak to someone. Found a job advert on Gumtree for a customer service rep, with a map on it of where the job would be based - in or near the old DHL office.
5th day went in there after work. After much searching they said it had been returned to the sender because they'd left 4 cards.

One of the sites I was on earlier had stats for replies to threads . . . .

Royal Mail - about 50 I think
DPD - 770
Yodel - 6500 ! ! ! ! ! Bet most of these are complaints.

We have gnomes in our garden. Ok, they're gnomes with attitude https://www.dropbox.com/s/xkmn6rtle295nqt/Gnome.jpg (that's right next to our gate) so not the kind of thing you'd forget huh? Last time they screwed up we asked the person we spoke to at the depot to ask the driver if there was anything in our garden and he said no. So after we called him a lying tw4t they agreed to re-deliver the same day. They're still totally incompetant.

Strange,

i have never had any issues with DPD via Amazon. They have always given us a time slot, and always kept to it. They are one of the better couriers they use, IMO. Home Delivery Network are the worst.

It's kind a funny. Wait til you live in Scotland, then you can moan about deliveries and third rate services. ÂŁ300 shed, ÂŁ100 extra for delivery. "It's so much cos it's coming straight from the manufacturers" they say. "Where are the manufacturers", I ask "fooking Mars:"

This is the same crew who attempt to deliver to a business address at 7:30pm on a Friday when everyone had gone home at 5:30, so I thought I would collect from their depot on Saturday morning thinking it wouldn't take to long as it's not to far from home how wrong could I be got there at 8:30 and finally had my parcel in my hands at 11:45. The posters in the collection point are designed to make you angry IMO as they tell you how good they think they are and don't come any where near the mark

HDN is part of Yodel I think that's were Yodel get their poor delivery from

To be honest the worst company ever for deliveries was Captain Cargo which became Fastrack Parcels before it went bump they made Yodel look good they managed to convince my supplier that the address I had given them for one delivery didn't exist when it was pointed out to the supplier that the carrier they used for overweight items had delivered to the address 2 days prior and it existed

I thought DPD were good, still do, but YODEL drive me mad! I try to avoid ordering from Toolstation because they use YODEL so orders tend to take a long time to arrive, generally the YODEL tracking reports no one home to accept the delivery but there is never a knock on the door or a card through the letterbox. I believe that Home Delivery Network and YODEL are the same thing. I've complained to Toolstation several times, pointing out that I never have the same problem with Screwfix, but it does no good.

Just to buck the trend :D, I send quite a bit of stuff with Yodel (via collect+), mostly ebay sales and never had any problems. It's handy as ebay account can be linked to collect+ so labels can be downloaded for printing and dropoff point is within walking distance.

I see - so you like using Yodel because they're just down the road.

Hello, I heard you need a handyman.
Can you do carpentry?
No.
What about plumbing?
No
Decorating?
No
What makes you so handy?
I only live round the corner.

No, I like using Collect+ for the reasons stated and they use Yodel as a carrier who have delivered all the items to mine and my buyers satisfaction.
Yes but that's using collect+ - if a sender uses Yodel without collect+ the buyer has to wait in for several days, or sit on the end of a phone line for ages at 10ppm to be able to collect their package. These are the problems with Yodel that other carriers manage to get around by doing things like printing the address on the card they put through the door.
Yodel are essentially providing a third of a service - they need collect+ and a network of corner shops for the service to be effective.

Sorry, I see what you mean now. I've not used Yodel direct and probably won't now!
