ive been searching for one of those surface dual purpose boxes / double surface appliance boxes on the internet but just cant find any.

Does anyone have a link to one for me please?

So you want a straight forward dual Moulded box?? Screwfix, TLC-Direct, local hardware shops, B&Q, they all do those.

i put a question up about the configuration of wiring to a combi and room stat and a couple of people suggested i use one of these boxes so there would be 2 heat resistant cables going into the combi , not quite sure what boxes they are on about and have asked but got no reply back yet

Hia mate, if you imagine 2x surface white socket pattresses together thats what it looks like, they are 1x unit with knockouts in- between if you need to knock them out, we at our wholesalers ask for a white surface double appliance box, but the terminology may differ depending where you are in the country, i don,t know mate.

so do you put a fused spur next to this by the boiler? if not how do you fuse it down?

Yes, my mate, use 1x for spur, and the other with a 1gang blank plate for the other, and in that side you connect your heat resis/flex to your 3xcore and earth for your room stat, you could use 2x single boxes side by side if you want, it just we use these appliance boxes thats all.
