Not sure what it's like in Dubai at the moment as not been there for a couple of years, but I did five trips to Doha last year which is basically Dubai MK2 on acid. As Timbo said, as far as 'on tools' stuff is concerned it's a write-off; the construction companies get the engineers to do all the plans and then it's a work-gang mentality with Filipino, Indian, Malay workers. There is SOME stuff about, but it's very slim pickings.

I suppose if you went to Dubai on vacation or something, you may be able to pick something up work wise!! Though what sort of contract package would be on offer, i wouldn't like to say as it would probably be on a local rather than overseas hire basis!!

Hi all Iv being doing a good bit of research on electrical work in Dubai and as somebody else before said its a closed shop,I'm a Irish electrician looking to get out of here but it won't be dubai I'm afraid the Indians, flipinos ar trained up to be cable pullers and ar only to delighted to work for a third of our pay rate and then there bused home to a camp with bars on the window..

Don't under estimate the Indian and Filipino electricians!! Not all of them are the lowly trained examples, many like to portray them as. I've had the pleasure of knowing many, that would knock the socks of many of the members on this forum. They are also pretty familiar with 2 or 3 internationally recognised standards/codes too, which isn't common among UK electricians!!
