Evening all,

My son lives in Dublin, he's looking at a property to buy out in the sticks a bit, consist of 3 bed cottage & large no of out buildings which have planning consent for conversion to holiday lets.
He's asked if I would go over & do the electrics, of course I said yes.
I then wondered if British EIC would be acceptable over there, & would I be able to register the works through Elecsa?

Your thoughts gentlemen please.:clover:

As far as I know it won't be accepted over here.RECI or the Ecssa will certify it for you(for a fee of course).Watch out for the colours though. Its brown and blue. The Ecssa used to have a thing where you were entitled to wire your own house and they would post you a blank cert you would fill it out and then drop it into the ESB. They would only charge about ÂŁ3.50 for this.I got this about 7 years ago when rewiring my mothers house.I don't even think I had to provide proof of qualification. This was a while ago so it may changed by now.Check out their website ecssa.ie. Hope this some help

And what colours do you think we use in the UK Pink and Orange.

We use the same colours as we supposed to be working to harmonised regulations/colours.

My apologies I thought the Uk were still using red and black.I once had to rewire a house in Dublin that had being rewired by a Belfast firm.Nothing wrong with it except it was wired in red and black. The ESB would not connect. The customer had the same house rewired twice.
Mind you it was a few years ago

Well now green n Yellow for Earth Blue for nuetral Brown LI Black L2 Grey L3 on switches as its all radials i personally drop brown as the live feed and then Black for switched All singles tox free only in public places although I use it for domestic as well as i normally have 10 boxes 200m ie 4x 1.5 3 x 2.5 3 x 6mm better than carrying 20 boxes with you. i but 10mm and 16mm by the metre usually
